USS Lexington Women Of The Navy Exhibit
Located aboard the USS Lexington Museum—known as the “Blue Ghost”—the Women of the Navy exhibit celebrates more than a century of courage, service and leadership. This is the most ambitious project ever done by the museum, we were commissioned all the technology design and integration.
The experience begins with the establishment of the Navy Nurse Corps and the “Sacred Twenty” in 1908, continues through the creation of WAVES during World War II, and explores the expanding roles available to women in today’s Navy. It also highlights the USS Lexington’s historic 1980 milestone as the first U.S. Navy aircraft carrier to permanently assign women as members of its regular crew.
We helped bring these stories to life through immersive technology, interactive displays, talking picture frames, LED screens, timed animations and historical artifacts. Visitors can also explore a virtual uniform-changing experience and pilot an aircraft-carrier landing simulator.
More than a tribute to the past, the exhibit shows young visitors how the achievements of previous generations continue to create new opportunities for the future.
We created this flight simulation from the ground up, making it intuitive, exciting and enjoyable for visitors of all ages. Guests take control of an F/A-18 Super Hornet approaching the USS Lexington, maneuver the aircraft, lower the landing gear and tailhook, and attempt to catch the arresting cable for a successful carrier landing. The experience also honors pioneering women in naval aviation, including Lt. Cmdr. Amanda Lee, the first woman to serve as a Blue Angels demonstration pilot.
We developed a highly realistic holographic experience in which two Navy nurses appear to materialize in midair before the visitors. Through personal storytelling and lifelike visuals, they share their experiences and bring an important chapter of women’s naval history to life.

Throughout the exhibit, interactive touchscreen displays allow visitors to discover the remarkable women who helped define each era of naval history. The experience concludes with an interactive timeline of major milestones, a geographic map showing where influential servicewomen came from, and an engaging trivia game that invites visitors to test what they have learned.

An interactive “magic book” shares the stories of remarkable women in the Navy. Visitors turn its virtual pages with a simple hand gesture, creating the feeling of flipping through a real storybook—without ever touching the display.
A visitor favorite is the Virtual Changing Station, where guests see themselves reflected in a digital “mirror” and virtually try on a selection of U.S. Navy women’s uniforms. The experience offers a fun, personal way to explore the different roles and eras represented throughout the exhibit.
